Le Paillon

AdBK Nuremberg, annual exhibition

2013

water bottles, water, ceramic tiles

The river “Paillon” originates in the Alps at a height of 1300. 36km downstream it flows into the sea in Nice. As a result of several construction phases the river was canalized. Within the city of Nice the river has, since 1869, largely been built over, disappearing little by little from the face of the city. Thus the river can be split into three sections: meandering, canalized and built over.

The installation consists of six bottles of water filled at six different stations along the river’s course. The corresponding colored ceramic tiles depict the predominant watercolor at each of these.
