Like a lighthouse, a circle of golden points shines far out into the landscape.

Arranged like the hours on a clock face, the golden points of light attract visitors to the region while also providing shelter for insects. The insects that settle here form an important part of the dry habitat’s cycle on the steep vineyard slopes. They can be both beneficial organisms and food for other species. From their shelters they swarm out to gather what the sun gives them.

You can taste the sun in a good wine—its warmth and radiance. Alongside the time devoted to care and cultivation, sunlight is an essential ingredient of a successful wine. Time and sun produce more than good grapes; they are part of all life.

These two aspects—sun and time as foundations of life, and insects as vital parts of a functioning ecosystem—come together in an aesthetic whose radiance reaches beyond the site of the sculpture.
